Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 July 2026
This Service is deliberately built to collect as little personal data as possible. There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no database storing your details. Here's exactly what happens to your data.
1. Who we are
Mike Mills, trading as Pick a Pattern, a sole trader based in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. Contact: mike@artyfactor.com.
2. What data is involved, and why
- Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe collects billing information (such as name, email, and card details) under its own privacy policy to process your payment and prevent fraud.
- Your box dimensions — when you pay to unlock a custom size, those dimensions are sent to Stripe as order metadata (so we know what you paid for) and used momentarily on our server to generate your file and confirm your unlock. They are not stored in a database or linked to a persistent profile.
- Your browser's local storage — after a successful payment, your unlock token is temporarily saved in your browser's sessionStorage, purely so you don't have to pay again if you revisit the same size in the same browser tab session. This never leaves your device except when your browser sends it back to our server to prove you paid. It clears automatically when you close the tab.
- Standard server logs — our hosting provider (Fly.io) may briefly retain basic technical logs (such as IP address and request timestamps) for security and operational purposes, as is standard for any website.
3. Cookies and tracking
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics scripts that profile individual visitors.
4. Third parties we rely on
- Stripe (payment processing) — stripe.com/gb/privacy
- Fly.io (hosting) — fly.io/legal/privacy-policy
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. In practice we hold very little — no account or profile exists on our side. For anything related to your payment itself (such as a receipt or refund), we may need to look up your transaction with Stripe using your payment reference or email. Contact mike@artyfactor.com for any request.
6. Data retention
We don't retain personal data on our own systems beyond what's needed to process your order at the time. Stripe retains transaction records for as long as required by its own legal and accounting obligations.
7. Children
This Service is a business/packaging design tool and isn't directed at children.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example if we introduce accounts in a future version of the Service — we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
